Daniel (short Dan)
1978 - 2006
We met Dan at a horse pull in 1997 and fell in love
with him - a gentle giant. We tried to buy him, but
the owner was not interested. Later that year he
was flipped backwards at a local horse pull competition
and severely injured. Before he was sold to a meat
dealer the owner called us to see if we were still interested
in having him. Dan was in very bad shape - with lots of
love and time he recovered and lived happily with us
until his time came just before Christmas 2006. Our grandchildren called him "Big old handsome Dan!".
He was our first rescue and prepared the way for
so many others that came to us in the meantime.
We miss him greatly - what a character he was,
one of the proudest horses we have ever met.
