Bettina's adventure in Real Estate began with a 4 year study in the History of Architecture, Art, and Design at the University of Alberta. She then took 3 years of post-secondary studio skills at A C A D - sister school to NSCAD in Halifax. While still a full-time student, DIY projects on Bettina's rented accommodation expanded with the purchase of a small heritage house in Calgary.  Renovations added equity and experience.

Bettina also participated in the professional art community, including her election as co-president of one of Calgary's premier galleries. She sat on various committees and had public speaking engagements, solo exhibitions and reviews in national Art and Architecture festivals and magazines on her photography/video and sculpture installations.  High tech tools cost big bucks, so Bettina sought corporate sponsorship and technology related employment.

Bettina choice of sales, as a computer equipment salesperson for a Multinational electronics company, opened her eyes to many successes and also the "Rat Race". A love for negotiation made Bettina evaluate their options. In 1997 she and her husband, Scott Gouthro, decided the timing was right to invest in Nova Scotia. Scott started Quest Coffee Company, a specialty Roastery and together they started a family.

In buying their Nova Scotia home, they discovered the beauty and quiet of the South Shore. Cell phone reception, Internet real estate searches, and the Multiple Listing Service was still in its infancy then!  Bettina became a local REALTOR(R) and soon joined the Rotary Club of Bridgewater & District. She was elected President in 2005 and still sits on their Board.

After obtaining broker level credentials,  Bettina joined Claussen Walters and Associates as they were opening the Bridgewater branch. Enticed with the reputation  and long-term potential of this innovative and positive company, she knows her clients benefit from the group attention and high service standards of Claussen Walters and Associates.
